SCHEME OF STUDIES

Grades 11

Introduction:

This scheme of work has been designed to support all Pakistani schools in planning the teaching and learning content effectively. Working on the guidelines given in this scheme of studies will help schools not only to improve their teaching and learning environment but also support their teachers in improving their teaching skills while dealing with the learners of mixed language abilities in an English class. It is recommended that teachers should give some percentage of their lesson plans to oral communication skills so that the English pronunciation as well as the communicative language ability of the students could be improved. Along with this scheme of studies, there is another useful resource ‘the curriculum guidelines’- that will guide the teachers while adding some relevant activities to their lesson plans based on any content. According to the time frame, which is purely based on assumptions,  each unit is further subdivided into four chapters in order to cover all the text types suggested in the document. The detailed suggestive breakdown for each term is also given below:

Number of Terms: 03

Number of weeks per term: 10

Number of working days per term: 60 (6 days a week) Number of days can vary as per the province.

SCHEME OF STUDIES

Grade 10

Introduction:

This scheme of work has been designed to support schools in planning the teaching and learning content effectively. Making full use of this scheme of studies will help teachers and schools to improve both teaching and learners’ potential in English. It is pertinent that teachers include oral communication skills in their daily lesson plans to improve the overall pronunciation and spoken discourse of students. In addition to this scheme of studies, the curriculum guidelines will help the teachers include some relevant activities related to each genre. The time frame given for each unit is suggestive and is based on the assumption that each unit will further be subdivided into four chapters in order to cover all the suggested text types. The detailed breakdown for each term is given below:
