Policy Consideration

Islamiat

Different Acts of Compulsory Teaching of Holy Quran are there in Federal and provinces. This requires more deliberation to adopt a common policy keeping in mind both the legal requirements as well as better understanding of the students.

A proper mechanism of keeping the Paras (Quran Mushaf) in school instead of keeping the same in the bags as the latter may cause potential blasphemy.

Scheme of Studies needs to be reconsidered in presence of a comprehensive curriculum.

Availability of resource materials in the school/college library will help students consult a variety of sources in addition to their textbooks.

Refresher courses for present teachers to help them understand the philosophy behind a common curriculum of Islamiat acceptable for all schools of thought.

Revamping both formative as well as summative assessment patterns to encourage critical thinking as opposed to rote memorization.

A shift of focus from a mere reading of the text to inquiry and project-based learning. For this purpose, teachers’ development curricula are to be redesigned as per the needs of 21st-century students.

Availability and use of AV aids for the teaching of Islamiat will arouse interest for the subject among students.
